April 20, 2023: Pincushion Peak and Wildflowers
Apparently, we can’t get enough of this hike. This was our fourth time hiking to Pincushion Peak! It was a spontaneous trip in the middle of the week since I had a day off from work. We were in the mood to hike but didn’t want to drive very far, so here we are again!
This time we went during the spring season. The grass still wasn’t as green as the first time we visited, but the wildflowers were popping! It was a beautiful sight.
The weather was perfect! Sunny and warm with a cool breeze. The best conditions for hiking. The great weather and beautiful wildflowers made this time hiking to Pincushion Peak one of our favorites!
But this time still doesn’t quite beat watching sunset from the top of Pincushion Peak. Surprisingly, we haven’t watched sunrise from there yet! I guess we’ll have to return just for a special sunrise hike.
Our Rating of Pincushion Peak
We give this trail a solid 9/10!
What we liked: awesome views during hike & 360-views at the top; able to see San Joaquin River and Big Table Mountain; fairly challenging hike; cows roaming around; great sunset spot; wildflowers beautiful in the spring.
What we didn’t like: no signs on the trail. There are several other trails in the area so it can be confusing.
