Know Before You Go

Million Dollar Road

During its construction in 1922, each mile of this road came with a hefty price tag, earning it the nickname β€œMillion Dollar Road”. Today, this paved trail is not just a beautiful path through nature but also a piece of history maintained by SoCal Edison.

The Million Dollar Road welcomes everyone, including hikers, runners, and cyclists. The only motorized vehicles allowed on this road are authorized vehicles.

Best Time to Go

The best time to hike to Stevenson Falls, is typically in the spring (March to May) or fall (September to November). During these months, the weather is generally mild, with temperatures ranging from the 60s to 80s (Fahrenheit), making for comfortable hiking conditions.

Spring is especially beautiful, as the wildflowers are in bloom and the waterfall often has a stronger flow from the melting snowpack. In fall, you can enjoy stunning autumn foliage and cooler temperatures.

If you choose to hike in the summer, start early in the morning to avoid the heat, and be sure to carry plenty of water. Winter hikes can be magical but may require extra caution due to wet or icy conditions, so always check the weather before heading out!

When me and my husband went in 2023, we were amazed at how powerful the waterfall was! That year was a record-breaking snow year which meant lots of snow melt resulting in huge waterfalls.

Quick Note: According to the World Waterfall Database, Stevenson Falls is regulated by Hydroelectric development and may not flow consistently. The amount of water flowing may change drastically throughout the year from being both regulated and seasonal changes.

There is a bridge near the waterfall that you can typically cross to see another angle of Stevenson Falls. We were not able to safely cross it in 2023. The waterfall was too powerful, but we had the best time playing in the mist.

  1. Hmm it looks like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted
and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer
but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for rookie blog
    writers? I’d really appreciate it.

    1. Thank you! I am also a rookie blogger so not sure how much valuable advice I could give πŸ˜‚ From what I’ve read and research I’ve done, it seems like being consistent with creating high-quality blog posts is important along with finding your niche and understanding SEO. Like I said, I’m a newbie so I still have a lot of learning and growing to do. Good luck to you though!
