We are currently in the process of growing our brand! Our goal is to create an engaging, awesome, outdoorsy, adventure-seeking, and nature-loving community. Our niche consists of:
- Outdoor adventures, specifically hiking
- Gear reviews (coming soon)
- Trip guides and itineraries with a focus on outdoor activities
- Green travel tips with a focus on sustainability, responsible & ethical adventures, and slow travel
Our website is very new! It was originally named slowhappytravels.com, but I decided to change it to me and my husband’s name, aprilandvikas.com. This way we could focus more on our adventures together and share our personal experiences along with providing informative and educational blog posts on the topics above.
Our Roles and Responsibilities
Vikas is in charge of our social media platforms. He creates beautiful short form videos about our adventures and edits all the pictures you see on our social media and website. He’s also a fantastic stay-at-home cat dad (yes, we have two cats)! He enjoys learning about technology and how things work. I guess that’s the mechanical engineer side of him.
April handles the long form videos (seen on YouTube) and the blog posts. She enjoys creating fun vlog-style videos which shows the good and bad parts of our adventures. She also creates all the blog posts for this website. Her favorite posts to make are the in-depth hiking guides (like this one) and journal-style blog posts (like this) about our trips and adventures. She currently works a 9-5 job as a travel physical therapist, so finding time to work on our business is tough (and sometimes exhausting), but she makes it work!
We made an agreement that if Vikas focuses on growing our social media presence and helping with the blog, then I (April) will continue to work a full-time job (while working on YouTube and the blog) until we start making money from our business. He is very supportive in so many ways and helps out with so much making my life easier and less hectic!

Obviously, the numbers are small, but we are determined to grow our brand! We started our social media in April 2023 and our website (together) in January 2024. I’m all about keeping track of the numbers and seeing the progress we make. Each month I plan to update the tables above to see how much we are growing. Can’t wait to have an amazing community that enjoys and finds value in our content and posts!
